Biographies

Mario Novaro was born in Diano Marina on 25th September 1868; after high school he moved to Berlin where he got the degree in Philosophy. When he came back to Oneglia, he took care of his family’s firm with his three brothers. He also worked for the magazine “The Ligurian Riviera”, which became very important for writers and poets at the beginning of the XXth century.
As his brother Angiolo Silvio, he lost his son in 1917 during the First World War. He died in Forti di Nava on 9th August 1944.

Angiolo Silvio Novaro was born in Diano Marina on 12th November 1866. He moved to Oneglia with his family to take care of their oil firm. His first works are novels and tales; then, after he got married in 1894 and his son Jacopo was born, he also wrote some poems, which were published in his most famous book, “Il cestello”. His pain for the loss of his son during the First World War produced another work, “Il fabbro armonioso”. He died in Oneglia on 10th March 1938.
