Biography
Giovanni Boine was born in Finalmarina in 1887. He spent his childhood at his grandfather’s house in the inland of Imperia. He attended the Scientific and Literary Academy in Milan and then he started to contribute to the “Voice” in 1909 and to the “Ligurian Riviera” from 1914 till 1916.
In the meantime in 1910 he moved to Porto Maurizio, but from 1912 till 1913 he went to a sanatorium in Davos, in Switzerland, because of the consumption.
He came back to Porto Maurizio where he spent the last years of his life. He died in 1917.
Boine was author of poems and critical displays (“Plausi e botte”, “’14-‘17”, “Frantumi”, “1918 postumo”) and also a novel (“Il peccato”, 1914: an autobiographical tale about a young boy who loves a novice).
