The “Riviera dei Fiori” and Maritime Alps Cultural Park territory comprises all the Imperia province, from the sunny beaches, such as Bordighera and Diano Marina, till the Ligurian Alps.
It is a various territory, where writers, poets and painters lived during every historical age. The Cultural Park activities are concentrated on the relationship between arts and territory: their aim is looking for places and itineraries which link famous artists and our province. The Park guidebook talks about the link between some writers and painters and the places where they lived or were born: Italo Calvino and his contrasting relationship with Sanremo, Giovanni Boine who wrote about Porto Maurizio, Monet who was fascinated by the Ligurian light and colours, Giovanni Ruffini who wrote about a love tale in Taggia, and the Novaro brothers, first example of patrons in Oneglia.
Many other important artists were also fascinated by Western Liguria: Katherine Mansfield who lived in Ospedaletti, Edmondo de Amicis who was born in Imperia, and many others.
